A Real Farm

It was time to introduce Isabel to a real farm...after all, now that she's a proud farmer herself, she needs to learn the trade...

First, she hopped into a wagon with a sidekick aka her "uncle" baine

There were pigs...

Horses that look like they were long overdue a visit to the hairdresser

Chickens...

Look at this fuzzy little fella...

And an odd otter or two...

Fascinating...

Florence and her son, Baine were our companions for the weekend

There was a playground at the park too....the slide was killer...And the little stinker only wanted to go down the BIG one...so up 2 flight of stairs, across a bridge it is.


I was dizzy after 2 runs..but my daughter LOVED it!

 

I was definitely pooped after the end of the 2 hours.

I Didn't Realize...

That my daughter is now 20 months old.

I feel like I've been missing out on the past few months of my daughter's life because I've been focusing my energy on something that was, and is still, futile. Going forward, this is going to change.

Little Izzy Has A Farm....

E - I - E - I - O!

I have been wanting to join the Quiet Book/Felt Craft group for awhile. Matter of fact, I've had a stash of felt sitting in the craft closet for a substantial amount of time. It was cohabitating nicely along with the numerous amount of yardage of fabric. I'm apparently a hoarder.

But anyway, with the breakdown of my sewing machine (R.I.P), I've decided to finally start on a quiet book for Isabel. (handsewing is......calming) With the progress that I am making, and with the decision to cut spending, I may be able to produce a book with 10 pages, oh, by next year!

Good thing I had all the necessary supplies for the first page ( I used white cotton for the page itself, and felt for everything else. I obviously did not read the "try to use fabric where possible for easy clean-up" tip. I'm rectifying that for future pages)

 I started with a barnyard scene - I took inpiration from Jill's book here (ok, it was almost a blatant copy!), as well as from other farm scenes from Isabel's substantial book/puzzle collection. Drafted it out....

And well...it didn't really turn out exactly - I got lazy. (Note to self - do not be lazy - always pin, pin, PIN!)

I may or may not continue to add more details to the scene. We'll see how OCD I get.

We have a little pig for the little pinky finger, a cow, a duck and a chicken.

 They are little finger puppets

Or maybe "Cock-a-doodle-doo!" would be more fitting....

Working on a doll's house concept right now...Not sure if it will turn out exactly the way I envisioned, but I'll update when it's done (don't hold your breath for it, though. It'll probably be awhile)

A Cookie For Me and A Cookie For Buddy

Little girl is all for sharing her cookies with the dog...

Don't be fooled by her generosity --- it's because she has the whole BOX to eat from...

She's now daring enough to help herself to the cookie cupboard. Probably not the smartest of me to put them in the bottom unit, huh?

Although to her credit, when I tell her "Enough" and to "Put back", she'll dutifully close up the box and put it back where she found it.

A Flower For Me and A Flower For You

It's been awhile since I've crafted....Things are...odd around here. For those who are not in the know, you will soon, I expect. But it's time I got back into it (crafting).

I needed to be eased back into it and these barrettes from Purl Bee are just the thing (although it's quite embarassing thinking of how long ago I've bookmarked them and said "oh yes, I'd make them!" I'm a slow starter, apparently)

Love how they make Isabel look like she's this little lady!

Perhaps I should have made them in the same color...!

Will it be odd if I had them in my hair too?

Or I may just have to put one on a hairtie, like Jill

A Big Day

Today, one of my friends is getting married. S&S, I wish you both all the happiness in the world.

I whole-heartedly wish that I could be there to join in the festivities, and also, selfishly, so I can surround myself with friends, as I need that right now.

It's scary to think of how many years have past by since we were all in high school together. And it's comforting to know that regardless of what happens, we still have that connection.

To all you ladies, I love each and every one of you. 

(And to J as well...you were probably too busy being Ms. Head Prefect to goof off with us in these
pictures! ;p)

4th of July

This Fourth of July, our house was packed.

There was a lot of food.

A lot of booze

A little girl slurping it up

"What are you looking at?"

There was.....some kind of tossing game...

That entertained the guys

And there were water balloons, that entertained the kids

Oh yes, very much so.

And best of all, there were fireworks.

Where we had pretty good seats, from our front lawn.

Hope your day ended with a bang too

Am I Glad She's Talking!

Mornings are always a little harried for me. Trying to get her to go out the door sometimes is a little challenging, as there's always the lure of her toys that's in the living room.

So this morning, after succeeding in buckling her in safely in the car seat, she looks at me and said "Shoo!" Apparently I was so busy congratulating myself for leaving (somewhat) on-time yet again, I've forgotten to ensure that my kid had adequate footwear.

We had a good laugh. Yup, Isabel giggled along with her silly momma...or maybe it was AT her silly momma.Whichever. It was a bonding moment, a sign of all the good times yet to come.

It's moments like these that get me through.

Hugs Are Good

It's been awhile. Work has been crazy but good, life has been another different ballgame.

But things go on.

Isabel certainly does!

She has so much personality for such a small little thing. (Although, maybe NOT that small, as you'll hear later on)

Summer is definitely here. It's been hot and sticky, making one prone to doing silly things 

On a sewing note, my sewing machine has been taking a very long vacation. I've finally gone through the big mess that was the dinky closet in the room. Perhaps my sewing room will be done sometime next year?

Top is from the Swingset pattern from Oliver + S - I don't know if their patterns run on the small side, or my kid is just NOT small.

I'll probably make the 3T size next time, to make the stuff last for more than just one season.

I still have yet to attempt a buttonhole. Mainly because my machine is NOT cooperating. Snaps are my friends for now.

Izzy's Table

This little guy has been hanging out in our garage since last fall, patiently waiting to be painted.

We bought it from the ReStore for $10, with the intention of perhaps using it as a table for Isabel to have her little tea parties on it
(oh yes, I am DEFINITELY looking forward to that stage. More so if I can get my husband to dress up in a tutu =D)

Until then, it's perfect as an impromptu living room table that can be easily moved or tucked away.

I love the detailing on it, and the height is perfect for Isabel
