Izzy's Table

Photobucket

This little guy has been hanging out in our garage since last fall, patiently waiting to be painted.

We bought it from the ReStore for $10, with the intention of perhaps using it as a table for Isabel to have her little tea parties on it
(oh yes, I am DEFINITELY looking forward to that stage. More so if I can get my husband to dress up in a tutu =D)

Photobucket

Until then, it's perfect as an impromptu living room table that can be easily moved or tucked away.

Photobucket

I love the detailing on it, and the height is perfect for Isabel

Did You Know?

Photobucket

It's a long weekend here this week. THANK GOODNESS!

Photobucket

We set up shop in the living room with a little table & chair to get some serious coloring done.

Love "My Little Pony"! ($1 at Target - They have "Hello Kitty!" too. We got one of those too)

Photobucket

Isabel had a grand old time picking up different colors (Everything is PURPLE! to her)

Photobucket

Trying to be efficient by coloring with both hands at once

Photobucket

I think she loves finally having furniture that's her size. The table has been sitting in the garage for about 6 months. Finally decided to finish painting it.

And I foresee lots of bubble time this weekend.

Poo Poo!

Isabel went poo poo on the toilet for the first time today. Although she freaked out and was like "UP!!" the whole time.

My baby is growing up =(

Vegetable Patch

Photobucket

This weekend, we started our vegetable patch for the year.

Photobucket

Learning from our past years' experiences, and coming to terms that neither one of us have a particularly green thumb (it's more moldy black, if anything!), we skipped the seeds and went straight to stuff that's already sprouted

Photobucket

We got basil and parsley for the herbs, lots of tomato plants, an eggplant, and the customary pumpkins (my husband has an obsession with growing pumpkins - Charlie Brown, anyone?). Oh, and a watermelon plant. I have no idea what he was thinking, but hey, if it grows, I won't complain to having fresh watermelons off the patch!!

Isabel was such a big helper,

Photobucket

Although she tends to run off with our gardening tools quite a bit

Photobucket

And she seems to have a thing against our marigolds as she snapped the heads off quite a few of them

Photobucket

Or maybe she was trying to sniff them?

Photobucket

Hopefully we'll have lots and LOTS of crops to harvest!! I would love to make pesto, and my favorite tomato & basil pasta from ingredients that we grew using our own hands!

On a slightly different note, it's goodbye to our old humongous sofa of 6 years. It's served and held up well to our lives -- the fabric's been ripped due to the movers, it's been thrown up on, spit-up on, peed on, and it was Buddy's comfy perch for years until we banished him off all furniture.
Photobucket

Goodbye, couch!

Ladies, Beware...

As previously communicated, my girl has a thing for bags, just like her momma.

Photobucket

If she gets her grubby hands on them...

Photobucket

She WILL nose through them

Photobucket

And all its contents

Photobucket

The best part is seeing her throw aside things that do not interest her

Photobucket

She's very into "What's in your bag?" segments.

Consider yourself forewarned.

Angel's Tears

So, the whole Saturday before Mother's day, my husband has been anxiously watching the front door for the Fedex guy.

He said he was waiting for a delivery of (horrendously, ridiculously overpriced) chocolate covered strawberries to be delivered on Mother's day.

He was kidding, turns out. Good thing I didn't knock him on the head for being so senseless!

Instead, he was waiting for this...

Photobucket
Why, hello there, Mr. M!

Photobucket

Gorgeous pearl studs...

Photobucket

They are the perfect size

Photobucket

I absolutely LOVE them.

Photobucket

I've been gravitating towards classic pieces as I get older (and especially since I now have a kid) and there's nothing more classic, or classier, than pearls.

It was a complete surprise (confession - I wasn't actually expecting anything --- a McDonald's breakfast was all I was aiming for -- I was craving it for weeks!)

Thank you HM! (and Isabel, of course)

16.5 - 17 Months

Stats:
Weight: 27 + lbs - 90th percentile
Height: 31+ inches - 70th percentile

Her vocabulary is ever expanding - she's repeating words, and she understands simple sentences/instructions

The week she turned 17 months, something flipped and we are in the "No" zone now. Like..."No....no no no no no....NO!" Grrrrreat!

She knows where her nose, mouth, feet, and sometimes, hands and ears are.

Some of her favorite words are "No", "Daddy" and "Bird"

She's had her first few corner times...and is well aware of what "go to the corner" means, judging from her immediate change of expression - think a big pout (which looks so cute that I just want to laugh and kiss her! Must R.E.S.I.S.T!)

Photobucket

She's getting very concious of me not being with her - when I drop her off at daycare, the moment we walk through the doors, she'll start clinging on to me and wail. It's only with me though, not my husband.

Her hair started getting into her eyes...

Photobucket

And there was something definitely mullet-like about the style...

Photobucket

It annoyed me...so she got her first haircut

Photobucket

As did Buddy...

Photobucket

Well...it's not HIS first haircut..

Photobucket

Although he's sure acting like it's a horrific experience...

Photobucket

She still loves her books and music

Photobucket

And bags and shoes

Photobucket

Her favorite TV show is "Make Way for Noddy". At 7pm every night, she'll say "Noddy!!"

She understands choices, consequences (somewhat) and the fact that there are some rules that she has to follow.

She's hard-headed, stubborn and is an individual. But at the same time, she tries to do what we do. And she will come and grab all her stuff so she can sit by you.

Photobucket

She loves affection, attention, someone to play with and to cuddle with.

Photobucket

She's inquisitive, challenging and sometimes, naughty.

She's just starting out.

Photobucket

The possibilities are endless.

Oh Dear....

Sometimes I don't think I'm the best "influence" to Isabel...

Photobucket

She spent 1 day with me alone and this is the outcome....

Photobucket

She's either preparing herself for a football game...

Photobucket

Or she raided my makeup case

Photobucket

And took a brush to my dark eyeshadow

Photobucket

And applied it to her cheek.

It gets better...

When daddy came home and had to go out again to get something, he brought her along....

After she had her shoes on, she went ahead to grab my bag...

Photobucket

Checked to make sure she didn't forget anything (she did...the phone...which she promptly took and put it inside)

Photobucket

Ok, folks...all set!

Photobucket

She said and waved her "bye bye"s

Photobucket

She even got the carrying method down pat!

Photobucket

She's going to be a full-fledged diva by the time she's 3.

(Oh, and she's mastered climbing up the stairs that day too. And the art of saying "no")

I think I'm in BIG trouble
